                                                                   Largest Tree(Pakari)
We find huge, strange and a cute tree here in this place. It is scientifically named F. Benjamin. It is also called as 'Pakad' or 'Falaksha'. This tree always seems as if it is regularly trimmed. The evergreen tree has a trunk of about 82 ft. Circumference and height about 96 ft. the branches are wide spread creating circumference about 500 ft. People worship it's trunk calling 'kotiyamai'. 'Kotiya' is indicated in tatil Lalitbistar too. Nobody dares to cut its branches as it is believed that something wrong happens if the tree is harmed. Many strange and mysterious aspects have been found in this tree. Vultures, Eagle sdo not nest nor sit here. Elephants do not go nearby, inspite of the branches so low from the ground level. The surrounding locality is named by the tree, Pakari. This place has a long historical background. It was formed in 1880 B.S., i.e; 178 years ago. The tree was a source of indicating direction those days. This beautiful tree lies at 5 minutes drive from Devdaha Park to the south.

Devdaha is a small V.D.C. of eastren Part of the Rupandehi district. It is marital Place of lord buddha.

The famous ancient capital of Koliya Kingdom Devdaha is located in the eastern Terai of Rupandehi district of Nepal. It is 35 km east of Lumbini, The scared birth place of lord Gautam Buddha. It is laying in the lap of Chure mountain just south of Mahabharata Range . Far north of these minor mountain ranges lie the beautiful snow peaks of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The east west highway passing through the evergreen forest areas has offered an easy access to Devdaha. It is both the maternal home and the In-laws home of prince Siddhartha after his marriage with Yashodhara, the daughter of King SupraBuddha of Devdaha. It lies 245 km south west of Kathmandu. It is also the home town of Mayadevi the mother of Prince Siddhartha and his step mother Prajapati Gautami. it is also again the home town of princess Yashodhara, the consort of Prince Siddhartha.

DEVDAHA PARK 

Lord Buddha in Devdaha: Princes Siddhartha was born in Lumbini while Queen Mayadevi was on her way towards Devdaha. Queen Mayadevi died at the seventh day of Siddhartha's birth. He was then brought up by his second mother Queen Prajapati Gautami. On his childhood, Princes Siddhartha preferred going Devdaha always. He paid his several visits until he was at Kapilvastu.

Prince Siddhartha demonstrated his extraordinary skill in shooting competition organized by his maternal uncle King Suprabuddha, king of Koliya kingdom, on the occasion of Princess Yashodhara's wedding ceremony. He succeeded to shoot his arrow through seven tamarind trees. He was immediately garlanded by princess Yasodhara. The unbelievable defeat of the rest competing princess were rude towards princes Siddhartha. After seven years of his Enlightens, Prince Siddhartha in the face of Lord Gautam Buddha visited Devdaha. He was heavily welcomed there. Every people of Devdaha paid a great attention toward him.

Lord Buddha solved many obstacles and difficulties and problems suffered by the people. He ordained many flowers of Iain sad hu Nirgrantha Nathputra,too.

This Park is the eastern front gate of Devdaha. It welcomes all the visitors of Devdaha. The park contains a huge garden and one pagoda in it. There is a big statue of Lord Buddha ( 7 feet) and  a statue of Sariputra which is made up of coated with golden color. The garden contains various flowers including 'bodhi brichha'. This park is really an ornament of Devdaha.

This park was built by Devdaha Conservation Academy and it was Inaugurated by His royal Highness Crown Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev. He is the most important person to visit Devdaha till today.

This park is the entrance and the symbol of peace in Devdaha. Before this park visitors get confused to find Devdaha. But the problem is eliminated now.

The visit to Devdaha is not complete until you enter this park and worship the statue of Lord Buddha. 

 

Bhawanipur

People consider Bhabanipur lying 1 km south of barimai/Kanyamai to be the ancient Devdaha. There is a stone figure of Sun God in this place besides a stone pillar considered to have been established by Emperor Ashoka.

The Ashoka Pillar here at Devdaha is the first epigraphic evidence relating to the life history of Lord Buddha.
       The stone pillar erected by Ashoka in 249 BC is one of the most noteworthy monunents and an authentic historic document of Devdaha. The inscription engraved by Ashoka is still intact and testifies to the authenticity of the birth place of lord Buddas mother and Wife.
       King Piyadasi (Ashoka), the beloved of Devas, in the twentieth year of the coronation, himself made a visit to Devdaha and paid his homage. Realizing that the Buddha Sakyamuni's mother was born here, a stone railing was built and a stone pillar erected. Because the lord's mother was born here, the Emperor had the people of Devdaha village freed from some tax and entitled them to the eight part only. Right now this Pillar is not yet been Explored all and is still underground showing some of its portion up. It is believed that it can be as big as the pillar of Lumbini.
